Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
