Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
