From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
