In a surprising partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Uncovered

According to the official statement, "A strange confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of banned practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret cult.

The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Content

This release also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
